I've let Anne, Susie, David and JR know we are working on an updated 'Lead SME' job description that lists the skills and competencies necessary to be successful in the role. I also let them know we are ready to help w/ the selection process.


Kuali Days 7

Wiki/JIRA Upgrade Coming
Confluence(wiki) and JIRA are being upgraded. Confluence is going from
2.6->2.9; JIRA from 3.11->3.12. New features: set display order of wiki pages, better searching, improved auto save, page tree macro... see

Fri Sep 5-12th: Testing new software w/ existing data

News from Around the Campus
a) Another Open Source Cousin on Campus
The 18-month Bamboo Planning Project (http://projectbamboo.org/) kicked
off in April 2008 with a $1.4 million planning grant from the Andrew W.
Mellon Foundation to UC Berkeley and the University of Chicago

b) Identity Management on Campus
Berkeley joined UCTrust:The Univ of Calif Identity Management Federation
(http://www.ucop.edu/irc/itlc/uctrust/) and InCommon
(http://www.incommonfederation.org/)InCommon uses SAML-based
authentication and authorization systems (such as Shibboleth®) to enable
scalable, trusted collaborations among its community of participants.

c) Other Student Systems on Campus
IST is partnering with Summer Sessions and UC Extension to implement the
Angel Learning Management System for distance learning, and integrated
it with UC Berkeley core student systems. http://www.angellearning.com/

d) Travel Stuff
The University will not reimburse for meals and incidental expenses when
travel is less than 24 hours unless the trip includes an "overnight
stay" as supported by a lodging receipt

reimbursement rate for use of a private automobile for University
business went from 50.5 cents per mile to 58.5 cents per mile.
