The Functional Council is working to specify the schedule for future releases. They hope to finalize their recommendations on Sep 18th. Their recommendations will be reviewed by the Leadership team on Sep 23rd and ideally the KS Board will consider the recommendations at their Oct meeting.
Meeting w/ CalNet Team Sep 18th
Dedra Chamberlin, Sondra Reinman, Lucas Rockwell, Rob Chevalier, Jeff McCullough, Mike Friedman, Karl Grose are scheduled to attend our Thu 9/18 @ 2:30 KS Team meeting. Topics will include:
- Sun Identity Manager (SIM) and integrating SIM with authoritative identity sources.
- Roles and how to plan for authorization in Kuali apps.
- Campus plans for Shibboleth and federated IdM.

KS Board Report Highlights Jul-Aug 08 (The full report is on the wiki.)
- R1 Scope document approved as an internal document to focus the work activities of the next few months, however, it should be re-emphasized that scope decisions will continue to be made at every stage of development.
- KS Communications Mgr search has identified qualified candidates, hire is pending clarification about possible overlap w/ a similar Kuali Foundation position.
- The design of training and orientation programs for new partners institutions has started. First orientations targeted for mid Oct.
- Use case team has identified 17 use case packages (called “mélanges”) that will be used as inputs to the Functional Specifications for Release 1. The team has completed 50% of the work on these mélanges and is on track for completion by the end of September. Work on Release 2 use cases is scheduled to start in October.
- Services team has completed the 0.1 release of 5 out of 17 service contracts.
- A planning workshop was held with the RICE team on KIM/KEW enhancements. Scott Gibson’s team working on the development of the Authorization service. Still confusion between what KIM needs to have developed for Nov 2008 for KFS/KC releases and what KIM needs to have in 2009 for KS. A planning meeting is proposed to clarify the plans.
- Work continues to fill Project Control Manager position and other ,i.e. Business Analysts, Documentation Coordinator, Technical Writer, and Testing Coordinator.
