Redesigned KS Wiki on the Way

As many of you may have noticed and some participated in, there has been a left navigation redesign planned for the Kuali Student wiki for some time. While it will not address all of the concerns with the wiki, it is hoped to provide more continuity to the tool, particularly as the Kuali Foundation pushes projects to consolidate spaces on Confluence.

As such, the first stage will be implementation of a left navigation on the KS Entry Portal and KS Groups and Teams spaces. Additionally, there are a small number of pages located in the KS Test space that will be moved in KS Entry Portal. Once completed, the KS Test space will be deleted. This will not impact KS Workspace at this time.

This design change is tentatively scheduled to occur between 9 to 10 p.m. EST on July 16. There should not be a disruption in service or access during this time, but please be aware that the appearance of pages will be altered. To preview the new left navigation theme, please visit KS TEST in Confluence.

Please note that the links in the left navigation will be altered as the project moves forward. Furthermore, there continues to be an exploration on ways to improve navigation and space layout as we move forward.

Please contact Scott Shepherd (UMCP) with any feedback on the left navigation and wiki management.

Changes to Sakai

Kuali Sakai Kuali Sakai also has a brand new look and feel. The Kuali Foundation has upgraded Sakai through installation of rSmart Sakai CLE. You can check it out yourself at the Kuali Sakai Web site and you can read more about the interface at rSmart.

Remember, all KS team members should have access to Sakai to review list memberships, review e-mail archives, and join available public lists. Your login information should be the same as your original information to access Confluence and/or JIRA, with your username also serving as your password. Please contact Scott Shepherd if you are unable to log on.

IUGs consolidating, going public

There will be a shift in the structure of the newly formed Implementation User Groups (IUGs). First the groups will be narrowed from four to two: IUG-Technical and IUG-Functional.

Additionally, the IUG sections on the wiki will be moved to the publicly available KS Documentation and Implementation space. This will allow anonymous users to view the IUG sections, while non-KS confluence users, including self subscribers, may leave comments. Page and space management will only be permitted by KS team members.

Similarly, the IUG e-mail list will be accessible to the public through self subscribe on Sakai.
