R1 Setup Workshopclip_image002[35]

Reports were positive out of the R1 Setup Workshop earlier this month in Seattle.

The workshop was held to run a full functional decomposition of programs, projects and experience learning similar to how it was defined in the "setup" phase of the R2 Methodology. You can see the full workshop outcomes and agenda on the KS wiki.

Middleware Architecture on KS Web site

The KS Web site continues to added content to its documentation section. In the Technical Information section, you will now find the Release 1.0 Middleware Architecture, as created in July 2009. This follows the recent addition of the Service Contracts Javadoc Index in the System Documentation section.

Wiki Left Navigation Update

The new wiki left navigation was installed last week on the KS Kuali Student Portal and KS Groups and Teams spaces on the KS wiki. However, due to conflict with existing work, it was removed from the KS Group and Teams due to conflict with existing work. It remains on KS Kuali Student Portal.

For those working with it on KS Kuali Student Portal, here are some quick operational notes:

    • Under Page Operations, you will find tools to edit, add attachments, and info. In info you will find tiny links, the copy pages command and you can convert the page into into Word.

    • Pages, news and diagrams are under the Added Content tab.

    • In the upper right, you will find graphic buttons to print, convert to PDF, email a page, and mark as a favorite.

    • In edit, you should find your usual rich text, wiki markup and preview tabs (Google Chrome browser may not show all tabs). Additionally, you can move pages under the location section below.

Also note that there are text errors in expand macro errors in the left navigation when browsing pages or adding a new page.

This is an aesthetic error only that should have been addressed by Atlassian the latest version of Confluence. The Foundation Confluence managers are investigating. Regardless, it should have no impact on page additions or wiki performance.

      KS at EDUCAUSE 2009

EDUCAUSE has informed Kuali Student that it has accepted all three of its submitted proposals. The Kuali Student topics for EDUCAUSE are:

Kudos to Rick Burnette (FSU) for all of his great work in developing the proposals. Also, thanks to Rick and Andy Bucior (FSU) for their recent presentations at the 2009 AACRAO Technology Conference. Those presentations can be found on the KS wiki in the External Communications section.
